OSAA Basketball Update

OSAA Basketball families, as we close out 2020, we wanted to give you a program update. As most are aware by now, our 2020-21 winter basketball season has effectively been postponed as we continue to navigate through the pandemic. With that said, we are excited to announce the formation of basketball board as we continue to grow the program towards the future. We anticipate the return of our ADKYBL Travel League Commissioner and our K-1 Instructional Division Coordinator. We have some ideas to get everyone back on the court in 2021 but we need your help. As always, the success of our programs is dependent on our volunteers. If you are interested in filling any of these positions or know somebody who might that may not have received this message, please reach out to osaabasketball@gmail.com or osaavicepresident@gmail.com.

We hope everyone has a safe and healthy new year!

We are looking forward to you joining us for another Basketball season! Your children will have fun learning all about basketball and teamwork. We are also looking for volunteers to coach. If you are interested, please mark yes in the registration form as you sign your athlete up. We will be scrimmaging other youth programs in the area as well as continue our traveling league for grades 4, 5, and 6.

Program Details

Grades K-1
Plan is for practices on Saturday mornings. Request was submitted for just after the new year, but we'll look at getting them in the gym sooner if we can. If we can find other clubs that have a program for this age group we'll try to have a few scrimmages.

Grades 2-3
Plan is one weekday practice and one Saturday practice/game per week starting the week of Nov 26th. We'll also try to do scrimmages at this age group too.

Grades 4-6
If we have enough players sign up, we will be joining the Adirondack League this year. This league is split into boys teams and girls teams with one team for each grade level for boys and one team for each grade level for girls. In order to join the league, we must have a full team for each grade level.

Roster spots can fill up quick and once we reach the deadline cutoff, there are no late entries so be sure to sign up soon!

Prospective Adirondack League schedule is as follows:
  • Now-Mid November: Sign ups and tryouts/team selection
  • Dec 8-Feb 9th:
    • Practices: 1 night per week for 4th and 2 nights per week for 5th and 6th
    • Games played every Saturday with the exception of Dec 22nd and Dec 29th. Games will be 1 hr and typically run 1-4 PM.
  • Feb 16th: League Tournament at Schuylerville
If your player doesn't make the roster or is signed up after the Adirondack deadline, no worries!

Any players not in the Adirondack league will be reorganized to develop a rec team. These teams will likely be practicing one night a week and have games with surrounding schools and rec programs on Saturdays. This will start the week of Nov 26th.

Please Note: Facility requests are still being finalized for Schuylerville School District and should be ready soon. Once that happens, we will be able to solidify our schedule.

Stay Tuned!
